The second-hand marketplace Users Share Anger About Sizing Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.

Digital Channels Response

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.

It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.

Sizing System Updates

Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Stories

One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
