19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player won his first trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former mentor Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional title, took control to create a decider.

Moutet rescued four early-game chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
